Jim
Beatty is a community pharmacist from Bound Brook New Jersey. Born
in Kentucky, Jim has lived in Bound Brook for over 50 years. He
graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy and his entire career has
been spent as an employee or an owner in the world of independent
community pharmacy, with the exception of a brief early stint in the
chain and hospital environments directly following his graduation. Jim
and his wife of over 40 years, Irene, have two sons in the healthcare
profession. His son Mike and wife Melissa are pharmacy owners in the
Baltimore area. His younger son, Dennis, is a physician who practices in
Vermont. Jim and Irene have three grandsons.
Jim is one of America's most honored pharmacy owners. In recognition
of his lifetime of advocacy for community pharmacy he was selected as
the Willard Simmons Independent Pharmacist of the Year by the
National Community Pharmacists Association in 1999. A past president of
the New Jersey Pharmacists Association, he was the Legend Pharmacies
Member of the Year in 1998, the NCPA National Preceptor of the Year in
1997, and Rutgers College of Pharmacy Alumnus of the Year in 1986.
He is currently serving as editor of the New Jersey Journal of
Pharmacy. Jim was a member of the Legend Pharmacies Board of
Directors for over 10 years and has served on many boards in the
community and in the pharmacy profession.
Jim formerly owned three community pharmacies in Central New Jersey,
selling his last one in December, 1999. After buying and selling his own
pharmacies, and assisting many friends in selling theirs, he is
dedicating his second career to helping community pharmacy owners sell
their businesses successfully and to helping his fellow pharmacists
achieve the dream of owning their own business. His long-time experience
in business transactions of all kinds make him ideally suited to
successfully help both buyers and sellers.
