In many cases, these specialty arenas cross over with
each other in one way or another, which has provided further
opportunity for those pharmacists who wish to carve out a new,
profitable niche for themselves. The inability of giant
corporations to provide a personalized customer service
function has definitely enhanced these opportunities, such
that many of the existing independents and small, privately
held chains have entered new arenas and are finding themselves
able to compete effectively with the large, national players
in most of these arenas. Since price is often not a factor
with many of these customers, the playing field is being
leveled and the ability to deliver personalized service and
"custom" programs can often work in favor of smaller entities.
As this arena has grown, the opportunities for merger and
acquisition opportunities have grown as well. Independents
that are actively engaged in specialty providing and are
contemplating developing an exit strategy have the same needs
and requirements in terms of valuations and consulting advice
as those involved in traditional community pharmacy practice.
We have developed a Specialty Pharmacy Division
whose efforts will be devoted solely to the valuation,
purchase and sale of specialty pharmacies, regardless of size.
Heading up that division as Managing Director is
Arnie Cammeyer, a
35 year veteran of the world of long term care, infusion and
specialty pharmacy. Combining Arnie's experience in the
specialty arena with our large database of buyers and sellers
and our proven expertise in making transactions happen will
open up many new opportunities for our current and future
clients.
